Sven Thesen

Mr. Thesen has Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from North Carolina State University. During his seventeen year career in the environmental field he has addressed a wide range of environmental issues including Part 70 and PSD permitting, solid and hazardous waste disposal and remediation, NPDES permitting, environmental auditing and due diligence, regulatory review and interpretation, SARA requirements, NSPS and MACT analysis, SDWA compliance and UST registration and removal.
He has been with PG&E for the last five years and at present serves as the Electric Drive Supervisor in PG&E's Clean Air Transportaion Department. His keen interest in electric transportation stems from the realization of their environmental and societal benefits:

  • No ground level emissions;
  • "Wheel to well" emission (criteria and carbon dioxide) footprint significantly smaller than that of combustion based engines;
  • Electric energy becomes cleaner as time goes on; and
  • Significant reduction in petroleum dependency.

Most recent accomplishments include directing the first public utility demonstration of Vehicle to Grid Technology at the Silicon Valley Leadership Groups Alternative Energy Solutions Summit this past April.
Besides his lovely wife and two children, his only claim to fame and fortune is the first to backpack both the Pacific Crest Trail and Appalachian Trail (~4,650 miles) in one calendar year.
